What's Up With the Flu Shot?
Dr. Hugh Fundenberg, one of the most quoted biologist of our time, says that if an individual has 5 consecutive flu shots, their chance of developing Alzheimer's Disease are 10 times greater than if one had one or no shots.
There are many different strains of the flu and only a few are actually in the shot. Your protection from the shot is at best a Russian Roulette.
Doctor Donald Miller, a cardiac surgeon and professor of surgery at the University of Washington, recommends avoiding the flu shot and taking Vitamin D instead. According to Dr. Miller, "70 percent of doctors do not get a flu shot". There is a lack of evidence that young children benefit from flu shots. In fact, a systematic review of 51 studies involving 260,000 children age 6 to 23 months found no evidence that the flu vaccine is any more effective than a placebo. But there is also a risk of harm from the flu vaccine itself, particularly from the mercury, aluminum, and formaldehyde it contains.

Proper spinal alignment is the most important factor affecting perfect posture and maximum health and wellness.

Why Do You Yawn?

Cracking Your Knuckles

Why Do Some People Get Nose Bleeds?
Nosebleeds (epitaxis) occurs most often in the winter months due to nasal membranes drying out and cracking. The nose is very rich in blood vessels. Inside the house the air is dry and warm in the winter from the household heaters, thus drying up the blood vessels. Also the changing from the outdoors cold to the indoors warm increases the drying.
Some people are more susceptable to bleeding if they are taking medications such as coumadin, aspirin, or an anti-inflammatory.
The most common causes of nosebleeds are: infections, traumas, nose picking, allergies, hypertension, medications, and winter months.
How to prevent nosebleeds: Quit picking your nose, improve your overall health so that you may need less medication,and use a humidifier in the winter to keep more moisture in. You may find lightly lubricating the internal membranes with vitamin E ointment to be of much help.
Stopping nose bleeds. Sit up straight and lean sligtly forward with your head tilted back a little. Do not lay down and let all the blood run down your throat. Pinch the nose with your thumb and index finger for 3-5 minutes. Place an ice pack on your face for 5-10 minutes. If the bleeding continues call your doctor.

Do I use Ice or Heat?
Altering the temperature of an injury or pain can be quite beneficial to the healing process. Unfortunately for many of our wellness partners, knowing whether to use ice or heat can be confusing. Knowing the effects that each has on the body will help you determine which would benefit your particular condition.
As a general rule we recommend our wellness partners with lowback and neck pain use ice on the spine for 20 minutes at a time and wait one hour before re-applying again for 20 minutes. Moist heat may be applied to the sides of the spine on the muscles only and not on the spine for 20 minutes.
The application of moist heat increases the circulation of the blood and decreases tension in the muscles and ligaments. This will cause increased swelling. Moist heat applications can be used on muscles for the relief of chronic muscle and ligament tension.
Moist heat is preferred over dry heat because it penetrates the deeper tissue layers.
The application of ice decreases the flow of blood, thus decreases swelling and inflammation for acute and recent injuries. It also decreases pain. In many lowback and neck pain cases there is swelling of tissues and ice is recommended.

Breaking Down Diabetes

When food is being digested,enzymes in your stomach break down carbohydrates into glucose, which is then absorbed into your bloodstream. Your pancreas responds by releasing insulin, which allows glucose to travel to the liver, where it is distributed to cells for energy. Excess glucose is stored as glycogen and reconverted to glucose if blood sugars fall and more energy is required. In general, this is the normal, healthy picture of the blood glucose response.
With type 1 diabetes, the pancreas doesn't secrete insulin at all. As a result, glucose has no way of getting into the body's cells, and blood sugar levels stay high. With type 2 diabetes, the pancreas secretes insulin, but not enough to meet your body's needs. In both cases, glucose builds up in your bloodstream.
Normal blood glucose levels range from 60mg - 120mg. These levels are much higher in diabetic cases. Because glucose stays in the bloodstream, rather than being made available to cells, diabetics can suffer a variety of health problems, including poor circulation and blood flow.
